Change for the better

When I saw the pregnancy results and it was positive, tears fell in my eyes and I don't know what to do. I cannot imagine how my parents would feel and react if they knew I was pregnant. All I felt at the moment is fear. The fear that my parents will disown me and hate me, and the fear that my future is at stake. I just graduated from college and got my first job, and ended up being pregnant out of wedlock. I thought it was the end and I will not forward will my life and career.

But that thought of mine was answered by a surprising response. When I told my parents, they accepted me and forgive me for my wrong decisions. It was a rough start for us (with my husband) to start a new family and provide for our daily needs, while also pursuing our own careers. In the end, the mess that we have can be a great message of hope, perseverance, and great faith. We can maneuver change in our lives if we are committed to it.

Just like how Moses was able to change and step out of his comfort zone in leading the people of Israel out of Egypt. In Exodus 4:10 (NIV), Moses said to the LORD, "O Lord, I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am slow of speech and tongue." But even with hesitation Moses continue his mission and let Aaron be his voice to Pharaoh and they successfully led the Israelites for their freedom from slavery in Egypt.

In Deuteronomy 31:6 (NIV), Moses said to the people of Israel: "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Indeed, strong faith and trust in the Lord is our core foundation to change the old and become our new selves in Him. Remember the words from 2 Corinthians 5:17, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!".

We have an imperfect past, but we can change for the better, with God as our source of strength and wisdom in withstanding the storms of life. Today, I had succumb to the challenges in life with God's grace. I have a happy family with three kids, what could I ask for. We may have an imperfect past but we can change it in the future. We can change for the better! Keep praying, keep the faith, and journey with God for the great of your life! We can do all things for Christ gives us strength!

SERVE

Serve

SERVE

A Poem by J.E.H

Source: https://www.uckg.org/what-does-it-mean-to-serve-god/

I am willing to serve

Knowing what I deserve

To whom shall my service be given?

 Shouldn't it be break-even?

Focus on what matters most

Seek wisdom and do not boast

Will you work to please them?

Or do you honor the one above them?

Do not serve two masters

Will you hate the one and love the other?

Will you devote to one and despise the other?

You cannot serve two masters

Serve with commitment

Do it with contentment

Honor God and be better

Be a servant leader

Choose

CHOOSE

by J.E.H.

I have a vision
It’s not yet in fruition
I want to fly
It’s me they rely

Work until dawn
Just like a pawn
Sacrifices were made
That will likely fade

I want to spend time
For what was mine
Family should be first
Will not let you thirst

Find time for yourself
Read a book on your shelf
Wisdom from above
Will give you love

Just look around
Answers abound
Work can be found
Family is always around

Choose wisely
Do it swiftly
Time will run out
Don’t be left out

FOUNDATION A POEM BY J.E.H.

Foundation

 FOUNDATION

J.E.H.

A house built on a rock
A lighthouse on the dock
How do I keep it standing
When there is winding

When storms blow
I am like a bow
Bending to let go
For trials I forego

Can I have resilience?
In your omnipotence?
You have responded
And I applauded

Your word is the firm foundation
To reminisce Your resurrection
Meditating day and night
To witness Your might

Refresh my soul
In Your Holy Bowl
Quenching my thirst
For You are the First

I was about to ponder
And I always wonder
Your words give me Wisdom
Gets me closer to your Kingdom

Help me build a strong foundation
Having honor and grace as a portion
Your words give me strength
To withstand any wavelength

You made me build a house on a rock
Seeing your lighthouse on the dock
It keeps me standing
Even if it's winding
