Submission

Have you submitted yourself to someone? Did you gave it all? How far can you trust someone?

When I was a kid, I put my whole trust to my parents. I trusted their advice. I followed their rules. I knew at that time that they just wanted what the best for me. All that they say is only for my good, for my future. I never doubted my parents' love to me. My mom and dad were very supportive of me in school, in work and in every endeavor that I will take. I am not perfect but my parents accepted and supported me in everything that I do. They also forgave me for my mishaps.

This is how Jesus has shown His trust to our God. In his last moments on earth, he trusted God's plan and follow it. He knew that he will die and be resurrected. He was prepared to conquer the pain of dying on the cross to save mankind from the sins of the world. He was the lamb of God who washed away the sins of the world.

In Hebrews 5:7, the scripture reminds us that:

"During the days of Jesus' life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with fervent cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission."

Despite all the hardships we face in life, always remember to trust God in thought, word and deed. You can do marvelous things because He is always on our side through ups and downs.

Have we accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior? How far is your faith growing? Can you fully submit your life to Him?

Comforter

Who do you turn to when you have problems? Do you call your parents? friends? colleagues? Are you longing for their warm comfort in times of troubles?

Being alone in South Korea for the past 3 years made me rely on classmates and friends when I needed someone to talk to. During my first week in South Korea last September 2022, I was diagnosed with COVID-19 and I was quarantined for 7 days. I just landed in a foreign country and I faced a dilemma right away. This is the first week that I am away from my family and I am sick. The feeling of loneliness made me cry and virtual calls from family and friends gave me encouragement. But it was not enough.

As I journey in this foreign land, I gradually adjusted to the new environment. I gained friends and it eased my loneliness. The main thing that really transformed me here in South Korea is my strong faith in God. I was fortunate to join an online discipleship group of the Christ Commission Fellowship (CCF) church. I attended first their online service every Sunday. They referred me to an online DGroup in South Korea. God's comfort gave me peace of mind while staying here in this foreign land. It gave me strength to endure hardships. My women discipleship group taught me life lessons that I will carry for the rest of my life.

When we are comforted by God's presence in our lives, we should also pay it forward and comfort others who are in need.

In 2 Corinthians 1:4, it says:

"Comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God."

We do not need to rely on ourselves or to others when we face problems. We can call the Lord through prayer anytime. Find comfort in God through prayer, meditation and reflection from His words from the scriptures. Read the bible everyday. Understand the bible verses. Put it into heart. Reflect on it daily. Share it to others. Apply it in your daily life. We are comforted everyday by God's word. We only need to take our time. Let us have a quiet time with Him everyday.

As we gain wisdom and comfort from the Lord, let us also share this comfort to other people. Let us show love and care to others. Lets give advices based on the knowledge and wisdom we have gained from the bible. Always refer to God's word in every endeavours you encounter.

Be a comforter!

Young

Have you experienced given a leadership position at a young age? Have you doubted your knowledge and skills for the job?

In 2017, I was designated as the OIC Dean of our college. It was an abrupt assignment since our current dean will start his doctoral study leave. There was no one willing and able to lead. I was just 5 years in the university and our senior faculty recently retired. We were instructor's level at the time. The position is usually held by professorial level faculty. In terms of experience and qualification, I am not worthy of the position. However, my colleagues and the administration gave their trust to me. I was given the responsibility because they believe in me despite my young age of 29.

Just like Paul, he trusted Timothy and encourage him that he can lead the church despite his young age. In 1 Timothy 4:12, Paul says:

"Let no one look down on your youthfulness, but rather in speech, conduct, love, faith and purity, show yourself an example of those who believe."

How can we put our trust in the Lord that He can guide us in leading? It's not easy but with His words from the scripture it will give us wisdom and knowledge to to do things according to His teachings.
