Today, 8th day March of 2015, is the International Women's Day, this day we will celebrate women empowerment and gender equality. Since time in memorial, women were perceived by men as future housewives, they were not entitled to pursue higher education (before) since they are expected to be a homemaker when they get married. But being the house wife is not an easy task, as what others believed in. As a matter of fact, it requires intelligence, patience and perseverance. Its not easy to rear children, cook meals, do the laundry, clean the house and fulfill duties to your husband. You could not feel or understand your mom today or appreciate the things that she do, but if you become a parent yourself, you soon realize that its the hardest job in the world.
In the new millennium, women have transcended from a homemaker to innovator, leader, public speaker, scientist, manager and CEO. Women now are more brave to express their opinions, initiate ideas and advocacies for the betterment of the society. As what the Iron Lady (Former Prime Minister of UK - Margaret Thatcher) have said "Any woman who understands the problems of running a home will be nearer to understanding the problems of running a country." Indeed, a home maker can run a country well, since she has the most crucial job at home. This is what President Corazon C. Aquino has done in the Philippines, when she was elected in the position, after the EDSA Revolution to oust former dictator Ferdinand E. Marcos. President Aquino never had any experience in politics, she was a housewife before she got elected, and yet she had ran the country so well, during the very crucial transition period of leadership.
Women all over the world has a very important role to play in every sector of society they lead. Men should respect women and give them a chance to shine and listen to their own ideas and opinions. Men and women are created equal, because their union will make them one and will bear a fruit of their love. There is an anecdote that says "Every successful man has a woman behind him." Indeed, a man and a woman need each others company to create good things together.
